Asics has partnered with Fujitaka Co. Ltd, best known for their manufacture of high quality bath towels, to reconstruct the EX89™ with Shuzen influences. These details include upcycled yarn materials for the laces and mixed materials for the upper that create a traditional patch and repair effect.

The EX89™ sneaker blends the heritage influences of the GEL-EXTREME basketball shoe from 1989 with modern cushioning properties. They updated the sockliner and midsole with FF BLAST™ cushioning. These technologies are met with a sculpted heel shape to improve shock absorption during everyday scenarios.
